Wyoming residents are used to the cold weather. Our winters are harsh and long, often dragging past January. However, when the sun finally makes an appearance, it really beats down. These intense moments of sun exposure can often lead to sun damage and premature aging. In addition, sagging skin, uneven pigmentation, and the appearance of unsightly blemishes can further signs of aging. Looking good is a huge part of feeling good. That is why Dr. Gerard is excited to offer her specialized line of chemical peels to the public. These peels are designed to give you glowing skin fast!
What are Chemical Peels?
Chemical peels are skin care treatments that involve the application of mild acids directly to the skin. These acids are completely safe and come in several varieties such as glycolic, trichloroacetic, salicylic, lactic, and carbolic acid. When applied, they act as exfoliating agents. The peels offered by Dr. Gerard come in 3 tiers of intensity: Superficial, Medium, and Deep. The level of intensity used is dependent on your particular skin care needs and goals.
Treating Your Skin with Chemical Peels
Folks who visit The Wyoming Medical Wellness Center tend to feel right at home. When you come in, you will be greeted warmly by our staff and evaluated by Dr. Gerard herself. After the evaluation, your treatment session will begin. Our chemical peels generally take 15-30 minutes to apply. However, this time may vary depending upon any add-on’s and individualized aftercare instructions. During a chemical peel, most people feel a slight burning and stinging sensation that lasts about 5-10 minutes. At our clinic, we do all we can to facilitate a friendly and comfortable procedure.
Results of Using Chemical Peels
Depending on the type of chemical peel, a reaction similar to a sunburn occurs after the session. This is accompanied by redness and scaling that ends within 3-7 days. Our Superficial peels provide a beautiful glow without any downtime and can be repeated at 4-week intervals until best results are reached. The Medium and Deep chemical peels may result in some slight swelling, redness, and sensitivity. Afterward, your skin will peel over a period of 7-14 days. You’ll need to avoid direct sunlight for several months after a chemical peel since your new skin will be fragile and prone to irritation.
